VHF Mobile Whips, 70 to 174 MHz, 2.1 dBi gain
For the VHF frequeny range 70 to 174 MHz, these 2.1 dBi gain whips can be mounted to any antenna base with 5/16"–26 TPI thread and trimmed in the field to the desired frequency using an SWR meter. Select either a tapered stainless steel or fibreglass model.
The mounting location may be on a vehicle or some other fixed location. For mobile use on a vehicle, the "MS Base" medium duty stainless steel spring is available to dampen vibrations while travelling.
The antenna mounting base will require a metal ground plane for effective performance. Also, be aware that the antenna tune will vary in different locations. It is therefore important to secure the base and whip in the intended final position before commencing the field tuning process as explained in the Installation Guide provided.
- Stainless steel whips are totally corrosion and rust proof and will survive long term, even in the most hostile environment. To field trim a stainless steel whip, loosen the grub screw in the chrome plated brass ferrule, remove the whip and trim very gradually from the bottom.
- A fibreglass whip is more suited to rough conditions where severe vibration is often encountered. To trim a fibreglass whip, remove the black cap and trim a short length from the top.
VHF Low Band Whips, 70 to 100 MHz
- "M11T" is tapered stainless steel, 109 cm tall prior to trim.
- "M12T" is fibreglass with copper braid, black heatshrink covering and chrome plated brass ferrule, 109 cm tall prior trim.

VHF High Band Whips, 144 to 174 MHz
- "M21T" is tapered stainless steel, 55 cm tall prior to trim.
- "M22T" is fibreglass with copper braid, black heatshrink covering and chrome plated brass ferrule, 53 cm tall prior to field tuning.
